The Winner of the 2011 UFFL is...

As most of you already know...Ryan Carter of The Dynasty! Ryan won the Head to Head league as well as the Keeper league this year, which gives him the overall Championship for 2011. Congratulations to Ryan!This also marks his 2nd win in a row and he becomes the first back to back winner since the new era of our league. A dynasty indeed. Ryan came back from almost last place at one point in the season, in the keeper league to scrape his way into the playoffs and then beat every manager he faced once he got there. Truly amazing. A congratulations to a great season is also in order for Matt Scheer. Matt dominated the standings all season long, by finishing in the top 4 in each league. Certainly a worthy feat. If not for Ryan coming from nowhere to snatch the 2 league titles, Matt would've walked away with the overall Victory. Matt did outright destroy the competition in the Salary Cap league and that is not to be forgotten. Congratulations Matt on a great season.Look out for information for next year during the offseason. Also I will post info about the upcoming baseball season in a few months. See you all next year!

For most of the 2011 Fantasy Football season Matt Scheer has dominated. Each week he had the best ASPL sometimes by 2-3 whole points. NOW, with 2 (official) weeks left, he is in jeopardy of losing his stranglehold on the Overall league win and trophy. Ryan has come out of no where to knock him off in BOTH the Keeper and H2H leagues and is positioning himself to make a historic comeback. He is trying to maintain his crown from last season and become the first ever back to back winner since switching to the new format. Here is what can happen;Ryan can win both the H2H and Keeper league titles therefore winning the overall league ORif Ryan loses even 1 of those leagues, Matt is the overall champion. Ryan is not even close to being in contention in the Salary Cap league.Dave is pretty much capped at where he will finish.likewise with Mark and Rob. Rob could still win the H2H league of course, which would help Matt win the overall.Mike could also take the Keeper league crown, also eliminating Ryans chances.But, Matt, can only sit back and wait...Even if Matt loses both 3rd place games this week, it's likely that he will maintain the lowest ASPL. So, there are two options (there are 1 or 2 EXTREMELY hard to comprehend scenarios that involve Ryan scoring about 200 points a week in the Salary cap that would also give him a chance at lowest ASPL, but, we aren't going to focus on that) EITHER Ryan wins both leagues and maintains his crown and creates a true Dynasty for himself OR Matt's stranglehold on the lowest ASPL all year is enough to win him the overall championship.

Billikenairs' losses make the gap between 2nd and 1st even larger. Seemingly the only chance for anyone else is to now win two of the three leagues. The only people able to do that are Mark and Ryan, who are so far down on the Auction league, that that is likely the ONLY way that Matt will not win this championship!

Congrats to Ryan on his 1st league title! It took him only 3 years to make his mark on the league and it's trophy. He didn't quite pull off the unheralded mark of winning to leagues, but he still holds the new record for lowest ASPL in a season, finishing 1,2, and 2 in the 3 league format. Pretty amazing!

A congrats also goes out to Chris for winning the Auction/Points league. Congrats to Chris on that accomplishment!

I'll be posting info on a playoff league as well as putting up stuff for next year soon. Remember no trades are allowed until it is made official by me. This doesn't mean you can't talk to others about FF, just nothing is official until closer to next season. Fantasy baseball is right around the corner for those that are playing that. Remember for that we are switching to a Dynasty league format, with more keepers.

Again congrats to the winners of the leagues, Matt, Chris and our overall winner Ryan. Thanks for a great season.

Almost Final Standings ... and Congratulations!

These are the ALMOST final standings. As you can probably tell however, Ryan has undoubtedly won the league! Congratulations Ryan! Your current ASPL score is by far the lowest anyone has had to win the league. If you can outduel Dreyer for the Auction league you will become the first manager to win two leagues. Amazing year!

Also, a congratulations goes out to Matt Scheer for winning the Head to Head League. One point ended Matt's contention to winning both leagues. To be in a position of 1st place in two leagues, heading into the final weeks though, is an amazing accomplishment! If only his points league would've produced better results, then there would likely be a match still going on for the league title. So, congratulations Matt on your win and your great season.

An interesting Note... All 3 years this league has been in existence Flamm, Ryan, and Rob have finished the season in the top 5 overall standings. Shaun and Matt have finished in the top 5 2 out of 3 times. So there is definitely a standard being set by certain managers in this format and they are excelling. A big kudos to those managers for accomplishing such a feat. Hopefully, some of the bottom dwellers will pick there games up next year and unseat these managers.

Standings - Scenarios for last two weeks

Best Shot at winning definitely belongs to Ryan. The lowest he can finish is 2nd in the H2H and the Keeper league. He is also top 3 in the Auction league, currently his 2.33 ASPL is unmatchable as a score. This leaves the only options of him losing to 1)Him falling to 4th in the AUction, while Flamm gets 3,3, and 1, respectively or Flamm can cause a tie by doing that while Ryan stays at 3rd in Auction, and doesn't manage to win one of the leagues. 2nd way Ryan can still lose is if Shaun WINS TWO leagues. Meaning he overcomes an almost 100 point deficit to rise to 1st in the Pts/Auction league AND he wins his matchup vs Ryan.

IF Flamm wins both games and goes to 1st in Auction, while Ryan loses both games and stays at 3 they tie. IF Ryan goes to 4th in auction in the same scenario Flamm repeats as league champion.

If Ryan wins both of his games, he is Automatically champion.

If Ryan wins 1, loses 1 and stays at 3rd or better for Auction, he is Champion.

If Ryan wins 1, loses 1, and falls to 4th in Auction, Flamm would win if he wins both and gets 1st in Auction.

If Flamm loses one of his matchups, most likely he's done.

Shaun's only way is to win both the Keeper league AND the Auction league.

This is a 3 team race, however, one of those teams (Ryan) has the most options available to win the championship.

A rough weekend by Doom and a statement by Ryan of the Dynasty may have forced this into a Three team race. Right now, Matt, Flamm and Ryan hold those top 3 spots... with the auction league going through to the end of the season it may all come down to who finishes 1st in that league.

Playoffs, Scenarios, and Rule Reminders

We are going into our 1st week of Playoffs for the 2010 Fantasy Football Season. Half the league has been eliminated from possibly winning the Overall Standings and therefore being crowned the League champion (technically, Aken still has a shot, but VERY unlikely). To the remaining players, a congratulations and a few reminders:

1. The points league goes all the way through week 17, whereas the final week of playoffs for the other leagues ends after week 16. So, make sure you set your rosters all the way through the NFL regular season.

2. If you do not finish with the highest ASPL, but you win two of the 3 leagues outright, you automatically win the overall league. That's very important and should not be overlooked.

The top 3 our really close in standings and in the playoffs anything can happen, so 4-6 are definitely not out of it, by any means.

Welcome everyone to the UFFL of St. Louis, 2010! We are going into our 3rd year in this 3 league format and our 11th year overall! It should be another competitive year and I hope you are all chomping at the bid for football like I am!

First off, there are a few changes this year:

* Yahoo is allowing divisions now, so we will take advantage of that. Divisions will be determined by standings last year. 1,3,5,7,9,11 places from last year will be in 1 division. 2,4,6,8,10,12 places from last year will be in the 2nd division.

* I have taken out the milestone points. It was causing too many points and I felt like someone shouldn't win just because their runningback got to 200 yards. Plus it's silly to score like 20 points without even reaching the endzone.

*PPC (point per catch) is back. Just a reminder.

*I have added a flex position to the starting lineup. This position can be a wr/rb/te and will count for points on your starting roster each week.

*I have also added an IR position. 1 per team. Ronnie brown doesn't have to be dropped now :)

*because of the flex position, there will be 1 extra round in the draft, since I didn't eliminate a bench position. so, that thins things out a little more.

*Instead of a salary cap league for our 3rd league this year, we will try out Yahoos new Auction league. I've never done an auction league, but it should be fun and give everyone something fresh to do.

* We will go back to the old days of having an actual LIVE draft. For the keeper league at least, we will be drafting with each other this year, instead of over the internet. I think it's more fun and allows for better leagues and more trading. Location, time, and date, to be determined.

*No restrictions on rosters. In the past, you were only allowed to draft a certain number of players at each position and then we added some any picks. This year, all gloves are off. Draft who you want and suffer the consequences or reap the benefits, whichever applies. Only thing is you need to be able to fill your starting lineup each week.

That's all I can think of for now, if there are more I'll let you know. Also, I will be posting all keeper information, draft orders, keeper tallys, and everything else to the blog. Please check back often.

For those that are interested we are doing a fantasy football playoff league for the postseason. Entry is 30$ with all money going to the winner.

Basically how its going to work is we are going to do a draft before the first round and that is your team throughout the playoffs. NO pickups allowed.

The 11th season of the UFFL of St Louis is over and the final standings are in...

As you can see, the winner of this years overall standings is Commissioner Flamm, um, me. Thank you thank you thank you. NO, no hold your applause, I know.

I'd have to say I pretty much crushed you all. Ya, I'm the best.

But, seriously congrats also to DOOM and Dynasty. Doom controlled the salary cap for most of the year and Dynasty won the H2H league this year.

Actually this year, 4 of the top 5 were the same from the top 5 last year. So, obviously these 4 managers are excelling in this format, so far.

Good luck to the rest of you next year. Please be on the lookout for an parties, ceremonies, and the draft next season. It was a very competitive season and I am excited about defending my title next year. Any changes or announcements will likely be emailed or posted on Facebook.

Flamm wins

Or Flamm drops to 6th in the salary cap league, while Matt gets 1st or DOom stays in first. Then Matt would be the league champion and in the other one, Doom and Flamm would share league champion.

Scenarios for who will win the league

So, guess what the league is STILL up for grabs! Awesome! SO, that means I get to go through some scenarios with those that are still in the race.

So, here it goes...

There are 4 in the running still, Doom, Victory, Dynasty and the commissioner.

So here are the numbers for each:

Basically the commissioner has the best chance of winning. Doom is 2nd and Victory is 3rd, with Dynasty pulling up the rear (as usual)

Now another interesting thing to note however is that if DOOM manages to win 2 of the 3 leagues he is automatically crowned the champion!

So, if doom wins the H2H and the sal cap then he wins. If Doom gets 2nd in the h2h, 1st in the sal cap then The commish gets 2nd, 4th, and then drops to 5th in the Sal cap, then it would bring a tie in the ASPL and Doom would win on the fact that he won a league, which is the tie breaker.

For Victory to win, he can win the Keeper and the sal cap or he can end up with a 3.3 ASPL by winning 1 of those and getting 2nd in the other which would likely win him the league.

Dynasty... . all hell would have to break loose basically.

So, although on paper the commissioner has the BEST chance of getting the lowest ASPL, DOom is completely in control of his own destiny.

It's all going to come down to the Salary cap league, again and again on the last week of the season. Will DOom's luck fail him again this year when it matters most? Will the commissioner ever win his own league again? Will Matt come from behind to stomp the shite out of each of them. WIll dynasty ever be any good at fantasy football?

So 2nd place is currently tied between 3 managers! That's insane. 1st place right now, is yours truly. But as we saw last year, it's going to come down to the final week of the season and the salary cap league will play a MAJOR role.

Will it be DOOM who had the league title ripped from his hands last year by less than a point? Or will Matt scheer bust through and take hold of something he has been in contention for every season? Maybe shaun has a horseshoe up his arse and will repeat as the League champion. Or is it again the Commissioners turn to raise the trophy?

No one is counted out at this time, well except like 6-12th place.. sorry guys, better luck next season. Last year at this time the same 5 were at the top. Doom had control up until the last week of the season. I'd say the 180 point whoopin he put on Shaun last week was a sign that he's not over it.

Well, when the season starts, at least. The drafts are over and I'll be posting the results soon. I'd say overall it was a good turnout. Everyone made each draft, well according to the sign in thing on the yahoo page. I'm sure a few people were drafting for someone else at least for a few minutes. Either way, it was great not having to deal with the gripes of "are we done yet" and telling Mike to quit playing Final Fantasy. Also the same player wasn't drafted 3 times before someone caught it. It's a little disappointing that we can't all get together and do this anymore, but it's the way of the world and hopefully everyone ended up happy with the outcome and of their teams.

I wish everyone good luck on their season and I hope that we have an even more competitive year than last year!

Reminder: Set your salary cap team in time to start the season, losing those points of the first week could destroy your entire chances. Shaun won last year because of gaining .06 more points than Rob!

You have 1 week, to make any trades. Trades must be approved by the commissioner. This was a rule we instituted last year. IF the commissioner is involved it goes to the UFFL committee.

You must post your keepers by THURSDAY. Or you will not get to keep anyone!!!!!

Again you must post your keepers by Thursday, so that Yahoo will let me put them in. We got screwed on Baseball because of this!

The 3rd league will likely be a Salary Cap league again. I will let you know when it's up and running.

The casual league will be up soon too, those that are interested in that or know someone interested in that let me know, so that i can send invites.

The Head to head league will be start from fresh again. Even the draft order will be random!

I have decided we are going to a Point per Catch league type scoring. This adds more depth to the running back position and changes a few things. It also adds more scoring. It is a popular element to fantasy football now, and I see no reason not to do it.

I jumped the gun a little bit and have since edited Dave Keller's name from the probation list. I should've done my research before the email, but instead did it after and realized that I was wrong in listing Dave as inactive or uncompetitive. Dave was very competitive and in the top 6 for most of the season as well as finishing in 6th place and moving up to 2nd in the salary cap.

An Email to everyone in the League

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to send out an email with some ideas I have for next season as well as some offseason information and changes.

First off, I want to say that I really enjoyed this season under our new format and I hope everyone else did too. Things were very competitive, especially in the top 6 throughout the season and it all came down to the wire. That is what I had in mind when this format was first thought of.

Secondly, I would like to have a superbowl party. Superbowl is February 1st. Details as to where and what time are not available yet, but I would just like for us to get together and enjoy the superbowl as a unit. I think last year was the first year in this league's history that we didn't have a superbowl get together. So, stay tuned for news about that.

Next, I would like to discuss changes for next season:

*We will be making some point adjustments. All of them aren't determined yet, but we will eliminate the extra points players get for milestones (100 yd, 150 yds, 200 yds, etc). There were several times throughout the year that those points decided games, and that was not the intention. Plus there was a misunderstanding of the structure by myself before the season. Other point adjustments will be decided upon before next season.

*There were a few owners this year who I felt didn't fully participate in the new league format. Therefore what I would like to do is introduce next year a 4th league. This league will be completely independent of the Main leagues and will simply serve as a Casual League for owners who don't want to invest as much effort into the 3 leagues. The players that participate in this league will not be required to participate in the 3 league format. This league could also be used as a league to propel others into the main leagues. We have done this before with our minor league systems.

A few members will automatically be pushed into this casual league, those members are :

Josh Sharp

I felt as though these 2 owners publicly showed a disdain for the 3 leagues and therefore if they want to still do fantasy football in the UFFL-STL, it will only be available to them with the casual League.

A few owners will be on probation for the 2009 season. By this I mean, I need to hear from these owners and I need to feel as though they will be committed to the season. I felt like these owners ignored the league for big stretches at a time and therefore hurt the overall competitiveness of the UFFL. These managers are:

THere is nothing wrong with being casual in fantasy football. Not everyone is going to check their team each week and provide feedback. That is fine. But, I don't want the main league(s) to suffer because of it. That is the main point of the new Casual League. Those league details will be made at another time.

Here are the Final Standings...

Congratulations to Shaun! He was the least likely to pull it off coming into week 17, but due to a great week in the salary cap and Doom laying an egg, Shaun was able to pull off the upset victory by .09 points. Nine hundredths of a point! Not to mention that at no time in the season was Shaun in 1st place overall, kudos to him on doing it when it counted.

Also, a congrats to Ryan for winning the salary cap league. He was in control all year and simply dominated. Ryan finished in 2nd place overall and put on a good show in his first season in our league.

For everyone else please stay tuned and keep your ears open for dates of parties, get-togethers, and news about next season. Some changes will be made and I'll be making those announcements soon.

NO change in standings this week. But, with 1 week to go, can Doom hang on? There could be a tie for first, which then would go to Ryan, since he is the only one of the top 3 to win a championship (okay, not officially, but no one is catching him in the Salary cap league). Should be an interesting week.

Doom needs to stay in 3rd place in the salary cap league in order to hold onto the overall championship. For shaun to win, he needs a mammoth week that would catapult him all the way to 4th in the Salary Cap league. For Ryan, he simply needs doom to fall and Shaun not to rise. Pressure's on!

This is the first league wins of both of these owners.

Both owners will be receiving Individual league trophies. Those trophies have not been decided upon yet, but once they are an announcement will be made and they will be presented to their respective owners.

Overall Standings after Week 15

It's a 3 horse race to the Overall Championship. It is unbelievably close. The possible ASPL ranges of each of the 3 is;

Doom 3.3 - 4
Reserve 3.3 - 4
Ryan 3.6 - 4

So, as you can see they can all only at worst finish with a 4 ASPL, and if Doom or Shaun achieve their highest standing possible in each league then they win it all. So, in a sense they hold their fate in their own hands and Ryan needs Both of them to not move up for him to have the best chance.

But, as it stands now, Doom is in 1st, Ryan 2nd, and Shaun 3rd.

Possible Individual League Trophy options?

Besides our League Trophy that we currently have, which i still want to maintain and order nameplates for the Overall winner each year, I would like to still have individual league trophies. After a little digging I found some interesting ones that I would like everyone to consider. Here are some pics;

I'd love to have the ring for the keeper league, but that is the most expensive option. For that there would probably have to be more participation in funding the league fund or the winner would have to put up some of the dough. The other trophies are relatively inexpensive, but again we would have to have more monetary investment by the league members.

Either way, feel free to give me your feedback or if you have any ideas for trophies let me know.

Not much change this week. Doom is Still on top when it counts. Congratulations to Shaun, he is the only one left that has a chance to win both the Keeper and H2h leagues. The commissioner loses in both leagues and with those losses goes his chances of winning in the overall standings.

It is very much still up for grabs! Also, don't forget about the Salary Cap league. It could all boil down to that league itself.

I have been doing some research and I think I've found some nice trophies that I would like to give out for each league. I will be talking them over with the UFFL Committee very soon. We will also begin to discuss an end of the year party date.

Those that are still in the playoff consolation bracket, be sure and set your teams, you still want to place as high as possible.

STL Flamms Falls Like a Rock;Another Flamm Rises to the TOP; But DOOM awaits

Helmets off to Doom and Reserve this week, both of whom came back on Monday night to send shivers throughout the Overall Standings and both of whom made it into the playoffs in both leagues.

Will St. Louis Flamms recover? Who is this Dynasty guy and does he have a chance to win while being stuck forever in 9th place in the Keeper league? Quizhoes is in the Power 6, will AP help him move further up the charts? How will it all play out? These questions will be answered over the next few weeks as the playoffs begin for the Keeper and H2h Leagues. Don't forget about the salary cap league. Perhaps that league in week 17 will be the deciding factor.

Congrats to everyone who made the playoffs and a special kudos to Shaun, Rob, Myself, and Tom on being the owners that made the playoffs in the Keeper and H2h Leagues. An FYI, those that didn't make the playoffs will have their teams locked from picking up and dropping players from their teams.

A 3 way tie for 1st! Because of his point lead Dynasty comes out on top this week. With the playoff picture still in question in both leagues, anyone can still win. Sometime this week I will sit down and go over what could happen this week and who needs to win to get in.

6 Weeks remaining until an overall Champion is crowned. The Top 3 have remained the same, but Dave makes a giant leap back into the power 6 with a 100 pt performance in the Salary cap. Doom is knocking on the door of the top 3.

Also, I wanted to install a rule. I've decided that although during the season a tie breaker is decided by points; at the end of the season if there is a tie for first place according to each owners ASPL, then the 1st tie breaker will be # of leagues won. If that is still a tie then it will be points. Just seems more fitting that if 1 owner wins a league, while the owner with the same ASPL doesn't win a league, then the owner that won a league should get the overall trophy.

Dynasty took over 1st place in 2 of the 3 leagues as well as 1st place overall. Congratulations to Ryan.

Fantasy Player of the week goes to Steven Jackson.

Jackson had 160 yards rushing and 3 tds, which gave him 43 fantasy points. The Billikenairs and Tambulance CHasers benefitted from his performance.

The MVP of the week goes to:

Brandon Jacobs, RB, New York Giants, Doomriders

Jacobs had 136 rushing yards, and 2 tds for 28 total points. He also helped Rob to get his first win in the Keeper league this week.

The Manager of the week clearly goes to Mark Scheer, owner of Morgan Freeman. Mark beat two Flamm's this week and in fact gave me my first loss in both leagues, last week and this week. He won both of his games by 5 pts and catapulted himself into the top of the leagues standings as well as the Overall Standings. He is now 1st in the Keeper league, 2nd in the H2H league and 2nd Overall. Congratulations Mark on an Excellent week!

The "What was he thinking award" goes to me for thinking Steve would actually start a full roster in all 3 leagues this week. After talking with Steve he said he would be willing to actually manager his teams and a few kudos go to him for actually putting in his Salary cap team. But, he forgot to start QB that wasn't on BYE. But, however, he still pulled off the win, due to some poor managing by his opponents. Hopefully, We will have a fully managed league this week.

Not as much jumping as I thought there were be, but in the Power 6 (top 6) there were a few new entries, and the revolving door that has become the 2nd spot had yet another change. Congrats to Mark and Rob for their giant leaps in the standings this week. Yours truly was scared to lose his number 1 spot, but is happy to see that he gets to be there for at least another week.

This week, I feel like there could be some real seperation in the standings. Some people are starting to run away in the salary cap league and there are some pretty decent sized gaps between the top spots. In the Keeper league, there are 6 teams that have a 3-1 record. In the Head to Head league things are a little closer, but a few teams are playing the team directly above or beneath them. I think this week's Matchups are crucial for everyone. I think some big changes will be in the overall standings after this week. So, good luck to everyone and we'll see if my predictions come true.

Weekly Awards

It's a little difficult to name an MVP for this week. It should've been clear cut and Brett Favre would be the MVP of the week in most leagues. However, in ours, he wasn't started by either of his owners.

So this week will be a co-MVP. Kurt Warner and Larry Johnson both scored a decent chunk of points and helped their owners achieve a victory.

Manager of the week clearly goes to the Wolverines. He won in both leagues and scored the most points in the Salary Cap league. Also, he jumped from 6th place all the way to 2nd place. Congratulations to Andrew on a great week of managing!

The bonehead move of the week should go to Josh of Give Me the GOLD, but he ended up winning his match anyway. He started Peyton Manning on a BYE and sat a 6td throwing Favre on his bench. "I'm loyal to Manning," Josh exclaimed.

However, in the Head to head league josh did pretty much the same thing: this time he played ELI manning on his bye week and didn't start Jason Campbell. Who collected 16 pts, and would've helped JOsh cruise to a double victory this week. So, he dodged one bullet but still is able to come out with the "What was he thinking" Award.

In other news, after talking to Steve the manager of Bros Before Negros, I have decided to give him another shot to run his teams. Of course he is on probation and his status for next season will remain unclear. HOpefully, steve can salvage his season and bring his franchise back some credibility.

I have spoke to a few owners about the feelings on the new league format. From everyone I've talked to, they seem to realy enjoy the 3 leagues and have began to offer ideas for improving upon it next season. One of the goals each year is to get better, so if you have any comments/suggestions please let me know.
